Last week, Macy’s announced its official release of a modest fashion line in collaboration with Verona Collection that will be hitting the racks later this month. As news of this game-changing clothing line hit the internet, Muslim Girl sat down with Lisa Vogl, founder of Verona Collection, about her thoughts on being one of the first to partner with Macy’s to support Muslim women and their modest lifestyles.

Vogl’s collaboration with Macy’s first began when she was selected to participate in The Workshop at Macy’s in 2017, a development program that seeks to support diversity in business.

During the workshop, Verona Collection was able to sell its designs at a show at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City. During this event, sales executives noticed the demand for hijabs and modest clothing first-hand.

LAST WEEK, MACY’S ANNOUNCED ITS OFFICIAL RELEASE OF A MODEST FASHION LINE IN COLLABORATION WITH VERONA COLLECTION THAT WILL BE HITTING THE RACKS LATER THIS MONTH.

“As the discussions with the sales team developed I kept it extremely private and only told my mother and some of my other family members later on,” Vogl told Muslim Girl. “It wasn’t until the week before the launch that I told other family and friends about the news.”

Macy’s officially announced the launch of Verona collection in their stores on Feb. 1, 2018.

While Vogl received backlash from some, she says she likes to focus on the positivity of such a groundbreaking collab. “Myself and the entire Verona team have received so much support more than we could have ever imagined,” she said. “Truthfully, as a single mother running a business, I’m too busy to focus on any negativity. So I just focus on the end goal to do what’s right and run a successful company.”

Verona Collection, which independently launched in 2015, was Vogl’s way of giving back to the community by helping Muslim women find modest and fashionable clothing. “Modest fashion has always been difficult to find and afford,” she said. “We believe that a partnership with a globally recognized brand such as Macy’s will make modest fashion more accessible.”

She also highlighted that Verona Collection isn’t limited to just Muslim women, but anyone who likes to dress a little more modestly while adding in style.

MACY’S OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED THE LAUNCH OF VERONA COLLECTION IN THEIR STORES ON FEB. 1, 2018.

Verona Collection boasts a large collection of maxi dresses, flowy cardigans and pants, hand-dyed hijabs and versatile statement pieces with prices ranging from $12.95 – $84.95.

Modest fashion and hijab-friendly clothing have been on the rise in the fashion world. In the December of last year, Nike released its Nike Pro-Hijab, a hijab designed to ensure breathability and a perfect fit for athletics. Earlier in 2017, Uniqlo debuted Hana Tajima’s modest fashion collection.

“I pray that this helps to pave the way to really make modest and fashionable clothing more accessible,” Vogl expressed. “We really aspire to make Verona a globally recognized brand, but more importantly we want to be a brand that empowers women and gives our customers the confidence to dress and be proud of who they are.”

Customers, Muslim and non-Muslim alike can to shop Verona Collection in-store and at Macys.com on February 15.
