Ms Marvel is Marvel’s first Muslim superhero, and according to Marvel President Kevin Feige, she could be the first Muslim superhero to make it to the cinema screens.

“Ms. Marvel ... is definitely sort of in the works,” Feige told the BBC in an interview. He explained that this movie would follow the release of Captain Marvel in 2019.

In the comics, Ms Marvel is the superhero identity of Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teenager from New Jersey.

“She is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel. We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world,” BBC quoted Feige as saying.

Now comes the bigger question: who could play Ms Marvel in the movie?

According to the BBC, no plans have been announced yet, but there is speculation that Bollywood superstar Priyanka Chopra could win the role.

Twitter has gone wild and has voiced support for Priyanka, who has already voiced the character in Marvel: Avengers Academy, a mobile video game. Others have said the role should go to a Pakistani-American rather than an Indian.
