If modest-fashion outfit ideas for the cold months is what you’re looking for, you’re going to want to add jackets, animal prints or a leather dress into your wardrobe. As for this season’s must-have colour, yellow, you’ll find it in a wealth of shades, from bright yellow to mustard and caramel.
We spoke to Modanisa, Turkey-based modest fashion e-commerce brand, for the lowdown on what designers think and showcase as the best winter wear. Modanisa, whose customers are largely from Europe, Turkey and the Middle East, stocks more than 70,000 products from 500 fashion labels and launched its autumn–winter 2018 collection in October.
“Most of the labels and designers naturally follow trends emerging from luxury brands; this year, animal and chain prints are very prominent, as are all shades of yellow and layering. The modest-fashion labels then apply these ideas to their own creations,” said Burcu Yilmaz, Modanisa’s marketing director.
Top fashion pieces featured in the site for this autumn and winter include combinations of dresses with double outerwear comprising both jacket and coat and brightly coloured capes as well as checked cashmere coats that add further richness to the outerwear collection.
Those who prefer modest dresses are always on the lookout for longer-length skirts, and there is plenty of choice for them this autumn and winter. “Opt for crushed velvet pleated maxi skirts in brown through to classic black and white houndstooth skirt suits,” Burcu said.
Modanisa has more style tips for the modest-fashion conscious customer, such as such as the black jackets and coats draped over chic ankle-length dresses; day dresses in vibrant shades of red and dark cyan, ethnic patterns, as well as red and yellow leopard print; or and even a shiny sequin full-length sequin dress and a sky sky-blue crushed velvet gown.
Burcu also offered a couple of guidelines for designers who want to feature their collections on Modanisa: they should be modest in style (no see-through garments, for example); trendy, with international appeal; and affordable.
Modanisa, which has a staff strength of more than 500, faces some common challenges: securing investment to enable business expansion and creating an efficient global supply chain. It is now charting an expansion strategy with plans to set up an international office outside Turkey in 2019.
