Officials in Saudi Arabia have declared a nine-day holiday for Eid Al Adha.

The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) announced that banks, finance and insurance companies will be off from Friday, August 17, until Sunday, August 26.

The announcement added that banks, finance and insurance companies will also begin their holiday in the same time with the Saudi stock market.

Arafat Day is expected to fall on Tuesday, August 21, followed by Eid Al Adha on Wednesday, August 22.  Eid Al Adha usually lasts up to three days, so it looks like there’s going to be a very long weekend from Tuesday to Saturday.

Khaleej Times cited Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Deputy Director of the Sharjah Centre for Space and Astronomy, as saying that Eid Al Adha is most likely to fall on Wednesday, August 22.
